At Elite Scholars STEAM Academy, we are proud to offer an early childhood program. It may seem soon to some, but research shows that the first five years of life are crucial in terms of how children learn and view the world. By offering a STEAM program to preschoolers and kindergartners, we are facilitating their development into the curious and open-minded leaders they will be in the future.
STEAM programs come naturally to young children because they are already interested in exploring the world around them. Our early childhood program at Elite Scholars STEAM Academy encourages young children to observe, experiment, and solve problems for themselves, fostering independence early on to empower students to take control of their own education. Students in STEAM programs naturally take their desire to learn outside of the classroom as they develop the skills to think critically and creatively. Developmentally speaking, children under 6 are particularly receptive to learning logic and reasoning, and starting a STEAM program in preschool helps to foster these skills through science and math. By enhancing this educational experience through the inclusion of the A (art), children’s understanding and enjoyment of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) is increased.
STEAM programs teach children to independently explore and create. Students are able to take initiative and responsibility through problem-solving. By starting in early childhood, children develop into self-sufficient adults who are sincere in their curiosity about the world because it was not forced upon them. They are able to think for themselves and be independent. At the same time, they are encouraged to engage with their peers and teachers, fostering the ability to work collaboratively and help others.
